Ford debuted what it calls the Power Promise program in the U.S. last September, offering retail customers that purchase or lease a Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit a free home charger when they take delivery of those vehicles, plus free standard installation. That program has proven to be a successful way to make it easier for EV buyers to get set up with a proper home charging solution – prompting the automaker to extend it recently – and Ford Power Promise has expanded to other parts of the world since then as well. Now, it’s set to benefit EV buyers in Germany, too.
Ford Power Promise has officially launched in Germany, joining the U.S., Canada, and the UK, where both retail and fleet customers are eligible. In Germany, customers that purchase a new Capri, Explorer, Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier, or E-Transit Courier qualify for the Ford Power Promise inventive, which in this case nets them a few benefits. Those include free access to Ford Flatrate+ – which consist of an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty on the high-voltage battery against excessive loss of capacity, two years of free breakdown service, and a towing service to the nearest charging station in case of an empty battery.
Ford is also teaming up with Tibber in Germany to give customers 5,000 free kilometers of home charging. Tibber supplies green electricity at wholesale prices and enables automatic charging at the most affordable times via vehicle connectivity and the dynamic charging function, and its current tracker “Pulse” also enables precise smart charging, even with excess PV power, by utilizing live consumption data.
“All fully electric Ford vehicles are qualified for the Ford Power Promise,” said Hans Schep, General Manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “It is a simple and convincing offer that strengthens the trust of customers in our electrification. It is important that it is not a special offer or a discount – it is a promise from us to our customers.”
