Ford Puma, Kuga Get New Series For European Audiophiles

Both the Ford Puma and Kuga have been sold in various forms across Europe over the years, many of which focus on things like performance, styling, or simply comfort. One of the more recent was the Ford Puma ST-Line Gold Edition, which – as the name might imply – added stripes, 18-inch Gold Aurora alloy wheels, and Gold Aurora touches in numerous places throughout the interior, including on the the Sensico trimmed handbrake and gearshift gaiter. Now, new special versions of the Ford Puma and Kuga have debuted with a different sort of customer in mind.

Those customers are audiophiles, as the Ford Puma, Puma Gen-E, and Kuga Sound Edition variants have just debuted as the very first two offerings in the Ford Collection limited series. These vehicles build upon what’s already offered with the existing B&O Premium Sound System, which consists of 10 speakers and 575 watts of power. These new models feature the same setup, albeit one with various hardware upgrades and an in-depth acoustic tuning program. Output is boosted to 650 watts for the Puma duo, and 700 for the Kuga.

In addition to those upgrades, the Puma gets higher-spec front door midwoofers designed to reproduce low and mid-range frequency sounds, while the Kuga Sound Edition further benefits from separate tweeters and woofers, adding two additional audio channels. Each Sound Edition model was tuned by sound engineers and audio experts at Harman, who used a variety of specialty software and carefully curated playlists spanning many genres to provide the best overall experience.

The Ford Sound Edition models don’t just get high quality audio upgrades, however – they’ve also been treated to some visual enhancements as well. Those consist of unique alloy wheels finished in Magnetite, the exclusive exterior color dubbed Metropolis White, and a black-painted roof and door mirror caps. Inside, one will find new seat fabric finished in Metal Grey with light gray door trim, contrasting light and dark finishes on the upper and lower dashboard, and new Ebony fabric seats for the Kuga Sound Edition. Both the Puma Gen-E and Puma Sound Editions are available to order this month, with the Kuga Sound Edition slated to follow later in the year.
