Ford Rival Ram Announces 10 Year / 100K Mile Powertrain Warranty

Ram – and its parent company, Stellantis – has faced its fair share of backlash from several recent decisions, which include – most notably – ditching V8 power in the Ford F-150 rivaling Ram 1500 pickup. However, following the departure of CEO Carlos Tavares last fall, Stellantis has been working to reverse many of those decisions, and is in the midst of rolling out a bevy of announcements while also recently opting to bring back V8 power to the Ram 1500 and returning to the NASCAR Truck Series as well. Now, Ram is aiming to dethrone the F-150 and other Blue Oval models in yet another way.

That way is via a longer limited powertrain warranty for new Ram full-size trucks and vans (sans all-electric models), which just so happens to be the new benchmark for that industry. The new limited powertrain warranty spans 10 years or 100,000 miles, and applies to 2026 model year Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram Chassis Cab 3500/4500/5500, and Ram ProMaster vans sold in the United States. Notably, Ford’s powertrain warranty currently stands at five years or 60,000 miles.

This new limited powertrain warranty is applicable to the original owner of these 2026 model year Ram trucks and vans, plus chassis cab models, and covers the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. It applies to retail purchases and leases to individuals and businesses, but excludes fleet purchases. According to Ram, the reasoning behind its decision to offer this new, longer limited powertrain warranty stems from the fact that more and more buyers are opting for longer loan terms these days.

“Everything is more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception. Truck buyers are financing purchases for longer periods of time, with nearly 80 percent of new truck loans exceeding five years,” said Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis. “Our customers are making a long-term investment in Ram, and with America’s best full-size truck limited powertrain warranty, Ram is making a stronger and longer commitment to our customers.”

  1. I don’t know how Ford could never do 10yrs/100k without raising the price of the vehicle. I have 2 2018 3.5EBs that did not make it to 80k without cam phasers, roller followers, oil pan issues and transmission CDF drum problems. I buy the extended warranties to 100k for this reason.

    1. 2018-2020 F150s were some of the worst in history. The other generations don’t have near the problems.

  2. Good for Stellantis. Actually an old line domestic automakers that wants to increase market share. Hopefully Ford and GM will follow suit.
