Former Ford Credit Exec Named CEO Of Hyundai Capital America

As is often the case in the world of high-ranking corporate executives, we’ve seen our fair share of defections from Ford Motor Company in recent years, which is also true of some that have come to The Blue Oval from other companies. There have been several high-profile execs that have left Ford in recent years, taking on opportunities elsewhere, whether that be at direct rivals to the automaker or ones that operate in an entirely different sector. That isn’t the case with a former Ford Credit executive, however, who has now been named as the new CEO of Hyundai Capital America.

Hyundai Capital America (HCA) has announced that Jim Drotman will serve as the finance provider’s new President & Chief Executive Officer. Prior to this new role, Drotman held various leadership positions within Ford Credit, including Executive Vice President overseeing operations in the U.S., Canada, and International Markets; Executive Director of Sales and Marketing for Ford Credit Europe; Managing Director of Ford Credit Britain; Vice President of Marketing in North America; and President of Ford Credit China. Most recently, he was the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) at FoMoCo’s lending arm.

In his new role, Drotman will lead HCA’s partnerships with Hyundai Motor America, Kia America, and Genesis Motor America, serving its dealers and customers. He succeeds Marcelo Brutti, who has taken on a new role with Hyundai Capital Services as Executive Vice President, Head of Global Business Division and Head of Hyundai Capital Americas Region.

“I look forward to working closely with Jim to focus on HCA’s strategic growth while delivering quality service to our customers, dealers, and OEMs,” said Brutti. “Jim brings exceptional leadership, vision, and experience that will continue to drive HCA forward in its mission.” “HCA has established itself as a leader in captive finance and mobility solutions,” Drotman added. “As I take on this new role, my commitment is to build upon the company’s momentum in collaboration with our dealers, OEMs, and incredible team.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
