Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for a tire rotation system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, Ford Authority has learned.
The patent was filed on August 31st, 2022, published on June 3rd, 2025, and assigned serial number 12319097.
The Ford Authority Take
In recent months, Ford has filed a large number of tire-related patents, a list that includes ideas for things like non-pneumatic tire manufacturing tools, more than one kind of tire monitoring system, and a tire tread depth detection system, to name just a few. Now, this newly published patent keeps that trend going, this time, with a new idea for a tire rotation system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, too.
This particular tire rotation system would utilize sensors to monitor tread depth on each tire – similar to the aforementioned patent for a tire tread depth detection system – but in this case, the goal isn’t to warn owners when it’s time to get a fresh set of rubber. Rather, this system would aim to determine when, exactly, is the optimum time to rotate one’s tires, which is something that is typically done at certain mileage intervals. In this case, that routine job could be performed when the system detects that there’s uneven wear among tires and perhaps even extend the life of them, if it does wind up becoming a reality one day.
“Submitting patent applications is a normal part of any strong business as the process protects new ideas and helps us build a robust portfolio of intellectual property,” Ford said in a statement. “The ideas described within a patent application should not be viewed as an indication of our business or product plans. No matter what the patent application outlines, we will always put the customer first in the decision-making behind the development and marketing of new products and services.”

3. FIX the ECO-CRAP engine!!!!
4. Ford has gone tp HELL over the last 13 years!!!
5. This is the biggest joke yet!! “The ideas described within a patent application should not be viewed as an indication of our business or product plans. No matter what the patent application outlines, we will always put the customer first in the decision-making behind the development and marketing of new products and services.”
