There’s something insanely satisfying about watching a dirt-encrusted vehicle getting cleaned within an inch of its life. The Detail Geek on YouTube often documents his tougher projects, like a Ford Flex with years worth of grime packed into its interior and his very own Ford F-150 Raptor, which was in desperate need of a wash. This time, he detailed the process that went into cleaning up a 2010 Ford F-150 that, in his words, “was absolutely abused.”
“The word disaster doesn’t even come close to describing this truck,” he says, explaining that the exterior is insanely dirty and beat-up. There’s a “monumental disaster” inside the cabin, too. There are empty bullet casings almost fossilized in the mud caked onto its running boards, shotgun shells and empty beer cans inside, and one man on a mission to make that 2010 Ford F-150 look like new.
The current owner purchased the 2010 Ford F-150 from a junkyard for dirt cheap (pun intended). It spent the first years of its life as a farm truck, and it’s unlikely that the interior has been touched since the truck was new. Power washing the exterior is first on the list, chasing all the mud and dust off, bullet casings and all.
Then, it’s time to gut the interior. He gets after it with a vacuum to clean out the dirt and dust and God knows what else has been caked into the floorboards. He gives the seats proper treatment while they’re out of the vehicle, too, scrubbing them back to their former luster before tackling the door panels and other interior trim.
Finally, with the interior cleaned up, he hits the exterior once more, polishing it up to make it shine again. The owner is absolutely thrilled with the results, saying it doesn’t even look like the same truck – chalk up another victory for The Detail Geek.
