Putting together a Shelby Cobra 427 kit car is the dream of many an automotive enthusiasts, but the one thing that stands in their way is the model’s cost, which can be tens of thousands of dollars. Lego has a solution – sort of. The toymaker recently released the Lego Icons Shelby Cobra 427 S/C, and it doesn’t even require mechanical know-how to put it together.

The Lego Shelby Cobra was designed with “adult builders” in mind, and it’s rated for anyone 18+. The model is 1:10 scale and includes 1,241 pieces, and even features maneuverable steering, operational doors, a trunk and hood, and a V8 engine that’s as accurate as a block made of Lego bricks can be. The vehicle features blue bodywork complete with signature Shelby white racing stripes, making it instantly recognizable.

The kit also includes a toolbox that’s the perfect size to be stowed in the trunk, along with a fire extinguisher, and a trophy. There’s also a $100 bill element that’s a homage to Shelby’s $100 Bill Game – because Carroll Shelby himself claimed that the Shelby Cobra 427 was so fast, he could put a $100 bill on the dashboard and the passenger would never be able to lean forward and reach it while under heavy acceleration.

“This model offers not just a rewarding building experience for vintage vehicle lovers, but also a piece of automotive history that can be displayed in the home or office,” the product description reads.

The set is offered on the Lego website for $159.99. The set will become available on July 4th, 2025, although members of the Lego Insiders club will get it on July 1st.

There are a few other Blue Oval models that have been released as scale Lego kits throughout the years. The Shelby Cobra joins the Lego Technic Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which is more kid-friendly than the sportscar model is. There’s also the Ford GT, too, which is a complicated build marketed toward adults.
