Lincoln Aviator, Corsair Recalled To Fix Incorrect Repair

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020-2023 Lincoln Corsair and Lincoln Aviator models equipped with the Revel Audio System that were repaired incorrectly under recall 22C35 issued back in January 2023.

The defect: in affected vehicles, when the driver’s seat belt is not buckled and the vehicle is started, the seat belt warning system may activate the audible warning chime for an insufficient amount of time of less than four seconds. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

The hazards: an audible warning chime that does not properly alert of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: audio control module software.

Affected vehicles: select 2020-2023 Lincoln Corsair models produced between January 31st, 2019, through November 17th, 2022, as well as 2020-2023 Aviator models built from November 13th, 2018, through December 13th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 3,227

The fix: dealers will update the audio control module software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on June 23rd, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25C18.
