Ford Mustang Dark Horse Spirit Of America Is a GTD-Like Dealer Build

Production of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD – the most track-capable pony car ever conceived – has been underway for some time now, with deliveries commencing just a couple of weeks ago. However, with pricing for that very special model starting out at a whopping $325,000 – and the Carbon Series and Spirit of America editions costing at least $428k – it’s safe to say that most folks can’t afford one, and even if they can, they also have to be approved by the automaker before that purchase can happen. Thus, one dealer has come up with something similar, for a lot less money – the Ford Mustang Dark Horse Spirit of America 810 edition.

That dealer is Long McArthur Ford in Salina, Kansas, which just debuted the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse Spirit of America 810 edition, a unique build that mimics the looks of the GTD Spirit of America in many ways. Much of that transformation comes via an exterior wrap job that gives it the same patriotic red, white, and blue appearance as its pricier counterpart, along with a large rear wing, vented front fenders, and GTD replica wheels finished in Gloss Gunmetal and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

While it may not feature the same trick pushrod suspension system, carbon fiber bodywork, or rear transaxle that the GTD comes equipped with, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse Spirit of America 810 does get a big boost in power, courtesy of some additional upgrades. Those consist of a Roush Stage 2 TVS 2650 supercharger kit, coupled with a Roush tune, lifting output all the way up to 810 horsepower (hence the name) and 630 pound-feet of torque – just five horsepower and 34 pound-feet fewer than the GTD. In this case, the fortified 5.0L V8 Coyote engine is mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission.

With an asking price of $98,970, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse Spirit of America 810 is certainly priced more attractively than the GTD, and it’s available to purchase right now – no application or approval required – making it a pretty enticing prospect for anyone that covets that model’s looks and power, but can’t quite muster up the cash to buy the real thing.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
