Handful Of New S550 Ford Mustang Models Still Available For Sale (But They’re Very Expensive)

The S550 Ford Mustang proved to be quite popular with pony car fans over the nearly one-decade it was on sale, which isn’t terribly surprising given the fact that it was a tremendous performance value. The S650 model took over the pony car reins following its debut for the 2024 model year, and we’re on the verge of seeing the newest Mustang enter its third model year, in fact. However, somewhat surprisingly, there are still some brand new S550 Ford Mustang models out there for sale, though they aren’t exactly cheaper variants.

A quick search on Autotrader reveals that there are at least six brand new S550 Ford Mustang models for sale across the U.S. at the moment, which is somewhat surprising. However, dealers must pay to have their inventory listed on this site, so it’s very possible that there are more out there sitting on dealer lots, just waiting for someone to come along and buy them. All six of these S550 Ford Mustang models are from the 2023 model year, but they also share something else in common – they’re all Shelby Super Snakes.

That means that these pony cars won’t exactly be sold at huge discounts, and in fact, they’re listed for sale with price tags ranging from $120k-$125k. Otherwise, the Super Snakes are located pretty much all over the U.S., so there’s a good chance anyone in the market might be able to find one nearby. They certainly won’t be cheap to procure, but these cars do come equipped with a load of upgrades that somewhat justify that price premium, anyway.

Those upgrades include a host of unique bodywork from Shelby that includes a new front fascia, rocker panels, a dual-intake ram air hood, louvered rear quarter windows (for coupes at least), a rear spoiler, carbon fiber mirror caps, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels. Power comes from the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which has been fortified with a Whipple supercharger in some cases, as well as bigger injectors, a billet throttle body, an oversized air intake, and an aluminum heat exchanger, helping to lift output up to 825 horsepower, and it’s paired with an upgraded suspension, to boot.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. I don’t care what “upgrades” that it comes with, the price is still not justifiable!

  2. Lot rot has already set in might be worth it at half the price if the full warranty is still in effect
