Patent Filing Suggests Refreshed Ford F-150 Diecast On The Way

Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for a refreshed Ford F-150 diecast model, Ford Authority has learned.

The patent was filed on December 7th, 2023, published on July 1st, 2025, and assigned serial number 1081470.

The Ford Authority Take

The refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 debuted back in September 2023 and went on sale a few months later, ushering in a host of updates for the popular pickup. Along with the typical mild exterior styling updates, those changes include the Platinum Plus replacing the Limited trim in the lineup, the addition of the new Pro Access Tailgate feature, an optional rear bumper, a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, a head-up display, and a new standard powertrain – the turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost.

Though it’s been on the market for a while now, the refreshed Ford F-150 may very well wind up being available in diecast form from the automaker itself, very soon, based on this newly published patent. We’ve seen a variety of Blue Oval models follow precisely that same path in the recent past, including the off-road-focused, rally-inspired Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally. In fact, Ford filed a patent for a Mach-E Rally diecast just this past January, and now, the automaker has done precisely the same thing with the latest version of the Ford F-150. Whether or not that leads to an actual diecast model remains to be seen, but it’s an indication that such a thing may happen at some point.

“Submitting patent applications is a normal part of any strong business as the process protects new ideas and helps us build a robust portfolio of intellectual property,” Ford said in a statement. “The ideas described within a patent application should not be viewed as an indication of our business or product plans. No matter what the patent application outlines, we will always put the customer first in the decision-making behind the development and marketing of new products and services.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
