News Writer
Overview: writer/journalist responsible for covering the daily Ford news beat.
Position: writer/journalist responsible for covering the daily Ford news beat.
Overview
- You will be responsible for covering Ford and Lincoln news on a daily basis.
- You will be at the bleeding edge of automotive news. In fact, you are the news.
- Your work will be exposed to 1 million monthly visitors (and growing).
The Work
- Availability during the work day. On rare occasions, such as during breaking news stories or a product reveal, you will work evenings or weekends. If you have other commitments, let us know and we should be able to work around them.
- Endurance and pace to produce 6-7 high-quality news articles per day about 300 words in length.
- Self-motivation. You will have deadlines, but there is no office, and nobody will be looking over your shoulder, so you need to be able to get things done and be responsible for getting it done.
- This is not a leisurely job. Like any serious publication, we have deadlines, and we aim to crank out as much as possible and as fast as possible, while keeping high quality.
- There’s always something to write about. For the most part, assignments will be handed to you. If you have ideas for stories, we also are very much open to hearing them.
- A thorough understanding of the automotive industry and of the Ford Motor Company, its products and services.
- You will gain affectionate and loyal fans, and sworn enemies. Like every hero, legend and dictator. You’ll need to have the emotional maturity to handle these items like a champ.
Subject Matter
- Breaking automotive news, model reveals and press releases.
- General car culture.
- Motorsports.
- Automotive business news.
- Original content.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Ford Motor Company product lineup, including vehicles, engines, transmissions, plants, and more.
- A solid understanding of the auto industry.
- Ability to digest a new story and write about it informatively, clearly, concisely, and error-free.
- Mastery of the written word.
Compensation
- Based on your experience and writing ability.
- Between $60,000 and $80,000 per year (producing 6-7 articles per day during the work week).

The work
This is position involves the following responsibilities:
- Growing forums using strategies and techniques developed in collaboration with management.
- Moderating forums and promoting forum culture.
- Developing and enforcing a forum policy as it relates to topics and users.
- Providing account support to users.
This position requires self-motivation and discipline.
- Your responsibilities will be clearly communicated to you, and you will be responsible for handling them.
- There is no office and there’s nobody looking over your shoulder, so you need to be able to get things done and be responsible for getting them done.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of forums, forum culture, and moderating activities.
- At least two years experience managing a forum, including growing, moderating, and promoting forum culture.
- Ability to understand topics, merge topics, post new topics.
- Ability to handle users and enforce forum guidelines, including time-outs, banning and blacklisting.
