The 2025 Ford Explorer represents the sixth model year of the crossover’s sixth generation, for which it underwent a major midcycle refresh.
These changes follow the introduction of the 2020 Ford Explorer, followed with minor changes for the 2021 model year, more significant changes for the 2022 model year, and subsequent minor changes for the 2023 and 2024 model years.
Model Line
The 2025 Ford Explorer is offered in standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or optional four-wheel-drive (4WD) across the following trim levels:

- ST
- Platinum

- Active trim takes the place of XLT trim for 2024 model
- ST-Line is now referred to as 300A equipment group instead of 250A
- Platinum is now referred to as 600A equipment group instead of 601A
