The 2024 Ford Mustang brings advanced technology and exhilarating design to the Mustang family as the all-new, seventh generation pony car.
Exterior
The 2024 Mustang features a low, horizontal front brow with an upper grille that mirrors the original 1960s design. A larger, more aggressive front grille with openings and new hood vents is also available for the GT model. The ponycar also incudes new crisp signature tri-bar lighting with the classic Mustang lighting signature tri-bar headlamps as well as a sleek roofline, broad sprinting stance and shortened rear overhang. The roofline is optimized for driver entry and exit without removing their helmet on the track, and an extended rear deck houses a redesigned diffuser for improved aerodynamic balance in the rear.
The exterior incorporates widened rear haunches and an extended rear deck, as well as 11 exterior color options including two new colors – Vapor Blue (new for 2024) and Yellow Splash (new for 2024). In addition there are three Brembo brake caliper color options available including Black, Red, and Grabber Blue, as well as an all-new alloy wheel lineup ranging from 17 inches to 20.
Interior
The seventh-gen Mustang boasts the most technologically advanced, driver-centric cockpit of any pony car. Inspired by a fighter jet, the cockpit offers two curved and customizable displays comprised of a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 center stack. The animated designs and new drive-mode depended visuals are based on the same Unreal Engine 3D creation tool that is used in modern video games, allowing real-time graphical renderings for the Mustang.
The default instrument gauge setting has also been shifted to a copper appearance theme, moving away from the traditional cool blue and light grey tones of previous models. The new Mustang also offers customizable ambient interior lighting, however, the instrument clusters adapt to the drive mode selected.
The Mustang also includes a race-inspired, flat-bottomed steering wheel with the option of upgrading to a full-leather steering wheel. The interior incorporates standard all-cloth seats with optional upgrades to either: Micro Suede vinyl inserts, ActiveX synthetic leather upholstery with multiple color options, or leather seat inserts. In addition, the ponycar features black seat belts with asymmetric accent striping and color accent stitching.
In Vehicle Technology
Inside the vehicle, the new Mustang features a wireless mobile phone charging pad, overhead USB ports installed above the cockpit, and a B&O sound system as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – both of which are fully compatible with SYNC 4. The ponycar also includes Amazon Alexa Built-In with Ford Streaming and Customizable Drive Mode with six options, including: Normal, Sport, Slipper, Drag, and Track.
The new Mustang also offers user connection via the FordPass™ app which utilizes free remote features such as remote vehicle start and stop, door locking and unlocking, scheduled start time, vehicle location, vehicle health, and status checks. The FordPass app provides additional important vehicle information available to users, including fuel and oil levels, service history and warranty information.
Active Safety Technology
The 2024 Mustang comes equipped with active safety technology including the Ford Co-Pilot360 which features Speed Sign Recognition, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering Assist, Evasive steer Assist, and Reverse Brake Assist. Another key feature is Active Pothole Mitigation which continually monitors suspension, body, steering and braking input and adjusts suspension response accordingly.
Packages
The new Mustang Design Series offers buyers more customization options direct from the factory, including the new Bronze Design Series Appearance Package, which is available on both EcoBoost and GT models and includes Sinister Bronze wheels and badges. Furthermore, an optional Performance Pack for both models adds a host of upgrades including a Torsen limited-slip differential, a strut tower brace, optional MagneRide suspension, larger Brembo brakes, and wider wheels and tires. The GT Performance Pack also includes brake ducts, an auxiliary engine oil cooler, and optional Recaro seats and an active exhaust.
A segment-first electronic drift brake takes new technology to the racetrack, unlocking the rear-wheel-drive drifting capability of Mustang with the visual style and functionality of a traditional, mechanical hand brake. The Performance Electronic Parking Brake comes standard with the Performance Pack on all Mustang models, engineered for novice drivers to learn and improve their drift skills while also providing expert drivers with a competition-ready system.
Powertrain
The 2024 Mustang will be powered by the following powertrain choices:
- An “all-new” four-cylinder turbocharged Ford 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 for EcoBoost models
- A naturally-aspirated Ford 5.0L Coyote V8 for Mustang GT models
A ten-speed automatic transmission and a six-speed manual transmission are offered with the EcoBoost and GT models.
Chassis and Suspension
The Mustang also incorporates a intergal-link independent rear configuration paired with coil springs and a solid stabilizer bar, as well as mono-tube dampers and the option of a MagneRide damping system for increase ride adaptivity. The front configuration includes a double-ball-joint independent MacPherson strut and tubular stabilizer bar also with the MagneRide damping system option. With a three-mode electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering paired with pull-drift compensation and active nibble control, the 2024 Mustang offers improved control for on-road speed and agility.
