The 2020 Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover utility vehicle (CUV) that sits between the Lincoln Aviator and the Lincoln Navigator within the Lincoln lineup. Capable of seating up to seven passengers, the Lincoln MKT is one of the longest utility vehicles sold by the Lincoln Motor Company. When it was first introduced for the 2010 model year, the MKT was considered to be the largest and fastest luxury crossover in its price range.
In the interest of fuel economy, Lincoln adapted several weight-saving techniques to the MKT’s body. For instance, the tailgate utilizes a mixture of magnesium and aluminum. Magnesium is also used for the radiator support frame as well as the frames of the rear seatbacks and the lower seat cushions.
Changes, Updates, New Features
With the return of the Lincoln Aviator, it is currently unclear if the MKT will continue to exist beyond the 2020 model year. Except for a few notable changes such as a mild facelift and the discontinuation of the 3.7L Ti-VCT Cyclone V6 engine, the vehicle is virtually unchanged since it was first launched.
Exterior
- The MKT’s styling is halfway between that of a sport utility vehicle and a large station wagon, with a clean, elegant and modern look.
- While the rest of the Lincoln lineup now gets a one piece signature chrome grille, the MKT carries on with the two piece, “double-wing grille” design.
- In 2016, the MKT’s vertical grille layout was replaced by a widely spaced horizontal look. The lower grille was also updated.
Interior
- Like its exterior, the Lincoln MKT’s interior features a clean, uncluttered and premium look.
- Six (2+2+2) or seven (2+3+2) passenger seating.
- Full length glass roof allows for a well-lit and airy cabin.
- Available 700-watt THX II Certified 5.1 audio system with 14 speakers and a subwoofer.
- Continuously controlled damping (CCD) monitors and adjusts suspension for a softer ride.
Body Styles
The Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover utility vehicle that comes in only one body style no matter which trim level is selected. Total number of doors is five including the hatch.
However, unique styling cues are applied to the MKT Reserve model to distinguish it from the entry level MKT Standard. The Lincoln MKT Town Car Hearse and MKT Town Car Limousine fleet variants have entirely different body styles.
