2022 Lincoln Navigator

We expect the 2022 Lincoln Navigator to receive a mid-cycle action (aka refresh) that will introduce revised styling, the addition of a hybrid powertrain, and updates to its interior and infotainment system.

Expected Changes, Updates, New Features

Here are the changes we expect for the 2022 Lincoln Navigator:

Body Styles

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator will continue as a full-size, three-row body-on-frame SUV with two body style configurations:

  • 210-inch Lincoln Navigator (standard length)
  • 222-inch Lincoln Navigator L (extended length)

Powertrain

We expect the 2022 Navigator to continue with the Ford 3.5L EcoBoost V6 gasoline motor as the standard powerplant, possibly with some modifications, but the SUV already boasts the high-output version, so Lincoln may simply opt to keep soldiering on with the current figure.

Additionally, we expect Ford to introduce a hybrid option for the refreshed model, most likely the Ford 3.5L PowerBoost V6. In the 2021 Ford F-150, the engine is rated for 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque.

A 10-speed automatic will be the only transmission offered for both engines.

Models & Trim Levels

We expect the 2022 Lincoln Navigator and extended length Navigator L to be offered in the following trim levels:

  • Standard
  • Reserve
  • Black Label

Platform

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator will ride on same Ford T3 platform as the 2021 model. The Ford Expedition also uses the same platform, and that model is expected to receive a similar mid-cycle action for the 2022 model year as well.

Production

The 2022 Navigator will continue being assembled at the Ford Kentucky Truck plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

Availability

We expect the 2022 Lincoln Navigator to launch in the last quarter of 2021. The updated model will likely be revealed in the summer of 2021.

Beyond 2022

We expect the 2022 Navigator to represent the first year of the refreshed fourth-generation model, which Ford has produced since the 2018 model year. Given the current product cadence, we expect the refreshed model to last through the 2025 model year, which will likely represent the last year of the fourth-generation. After that, a completely redesigned Navigator would take its place.
