On a recent trip to Colorado I experienced a violent vibration in the front end of my 2019 F350 – occurred twice. When I returned home I went to my local Ford dealership to ask if they were aware of this type of vibration and was there anything that could be done. Their reply was they had not heard of anyone experiencing this type of violent vibration. After searching the internet I found a number of articles that describe this and have labeled this “Death Wobble”.
Getting no answers from my local Ford dealership I decided to ask another dealership if they were aware of this condition. The service manager I talked to indicated that he was well aware, after experiencing this condition himself, and he stated that he had 4 vehicles waiting for parts. Apparently the parts that are used to help (NOT CURE) this condition are on nationwide backorder.
I pull a 15,000 lb 5th wheel and do not feel comfortable hauling it knowing that there is a possibility of this reoccurring.
Has anyone else experienced this condition and what, if anything, was done to remedy it?
Interesting comment by the service manager – the front end on these types of vehicles has been around forever and why it occurs on some and not on all is concerning.
