Ford issued Advanced Notice 22S27 on 4/19/22 telling all dealers to STOP delivery or demo of any new Explorers in stock because of a possible bolt fracture in the rear axle housing. Nothing is mentioned about any incidents and their fix so far is only to software in the Power Control Module. No mention either regarding how long this stop will last. Not a good thing to say the least. I got mine about a month ago and there is nothing in FordPass about this at all. Nothing has been sent to present owners. Hopefully this will hit the media soon and Ford will address it.
We just had the recall ‘fix’ applied to our 2022 Explorer Hybrid. Software update to PCM. My observation is that it ‘automatically’ applies the parking brake whenever you shift to park or turn off the vehicle. Fortunately, you don’t have to manually release the brake, stepping on the gas pedal will automatically release the park brake.
