Hi folks. Any idea on what makes the Explorer 2.3L Ecoboost with the 52T Tow Package suitable to tow 5300 lbs when the 52T is only adding a hitch and plug? Usually a tow pkg adds heavy duty cooling, larger brakes, and stiffer suspension but none of this is stated in the Ford Tow literature. I find it hard to believe the stock Explorer already has these goodies. I asked 2 Ford dealers and they couldn’t provide any specifics. Does anyone have any “specific” info or experience with towing with one of these? I called the Ford Help desk and filed a case #, no response. So I’d rather not trust the claim but get more information t substantiate the claim. My antique boat and trailer are 3200 lbs without brakes so I want to be confident the Explorer is capable and safe. Greg, Phila, Pa.
