From what I have observed and verified the F150 offers 3 bed sizes, 5.5 ft, 6.5ft and 8 ft. Now I realize that you can order a 6.5 ft bed with the supercrew cab but the combination that most dealers have on their lots is the SuperCrew with a 5.5ft bed and that’s what I had to settle for when I bought my XLT. To me it’s pretty weeny and I have some thoughts on this and want to know what you guys think. I believe the supercrew with 5.5ft bed has wheelbase of 145.4 and with the 6.5 ft bed it’s 157.2 (about 1 foot difference). My brilliant idea which Ford might think is stupid is leave the wheelbase at 145.4 and extend the bed 12 inches for the same capacity and it would seem to me much less cost to Ford. That would be an industry first that no one else does and set Ford apart.
If anyone knows how to get my idea up to the designers and engineers I’d love to know their thoughts as well. So let me know what you all think please.
