2023-2024 Ford Escape Recalled Over Misaligned Radar Module

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 and 2024 Ford Escape models due to a misalignment in the cruise control radar module.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the front radar calibration board position was not centered on the cruise control radar module. This may result in the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) misclassifying an overhead object as an object in the vehicle’s path.

The hazards: if the vehicle detects what it misidentifies as an object in its path, it will slow and/or stop unexpectedly. If the vehicle decelerates unexpectedly, this can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires related to this condition.

Components: Cruise Control Module (CCM)

Affected vehicles: select 2023 and 2024 Ford Escape models produced at the Louisville Assembly plant in Kentucky between April 19th and November 9th, 2023.

Number of vehicles affected: 209

The fix: dealers will inspect and realign the cruise control radar as needed. This procedure will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin being mailed out on July 1st, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S39.

  • My Ford dealer has had my 2024 Escape Active for over a week and appears to be clueless on how to repair the defective active cruise control system. Installed a new camera, problem come back after 20 miles, total shut down of all electronic safety systems. Now I hear they are waiting on a new Radar Module, how long with that take to install and recalibrate? Does Ford make available any technical support for the dealership tech to consult with for getting the system repaired?

  • My 2024 Ford Escape Active assembled at the Louisville plant is broke down with a defective Active Cruise Control problem, now sitting at the dealership for over a week and was wondering why my vehicle isn't part of the recall for 2024 Escapes having this same prob. I think Ford is fudging on the recall for this defect in the Active Cruise system. Perhaps they should take another look . My 2024 Escape Active 4WD was assembled at Louisville plant in same time frame 2024 and it has no cruise and no safety systems except warning lights, bells whistles and a lot of BS from the service department who hasn't got a clue.
