Earlier this year, retail giant Amazon announced that it intended to get in on the car market with the new Amazon Autos platform, which began with a pilot program featuring new vehicles from Ford rival Hyundai. That pilot officially graduated into a full-fledged new and used vehicle sales platform earlier this month, but for now at least, it’s only live in Los Angeles, California, though Amazon plans to expand it to other parts of the U.S. in the coming months. The existing pilot for new vehicles has already expanded to 130 cities, giving dealers another way to connect with car shoppers, and now, the used Ford lineup is set to join it.

This isn’t being done directly via Ford, but rather, Hertz, as the rental car company’s car sales unit has teamed up with Amazon Autos to list its own pre-owned vehicles there. Hertz Car Sales is Amazon Autos’ very first fleet dealer, which will add a variety of brands to the list that shoppers on that platform can choose from – including Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Nissan, and more. Customers will be able to complete their purchase online and pick it up at Hertz Car Sales locations, starting with Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle, with plans to expand to Hertz Car Sales’ 45 locations nationwide soon.

“Our goal is to reimagine the car-buying experience and meet customers where they are – whether online or in person – with convenience, confidence and scale,” said Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales. “Amazon Autos is the ideal partner to help us deliver on this as customers can shop our expansive inventory of high-quality used cars on the same trusted marketplace where millions shop every day.”

“We’re excited for Hertz Car Sales to join the hundreds of franchised dealers in our store, bringing thousands of additional vehicles for customers to choose from,” said Fan Jin, Global Head of Amazon Autos. “This collaboration allows us to offer an expanded selection of well-maintained vehicles from more dealerships across the country, while maintaining the simplicity that customers expect from Amazon.”
