The Aluminator, or also known as the Aluminator XS, is a 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 crate engine from Ford Motor used to power sports cars like the Ford Mustang. Featuring a dual overhead cam (DOHC) design, in a V configuration, the Ford Aluminator architecture has been part of the Ford Modular family since 2016.
This engine is hand-built and was specifically designed for aftermarket use. The Ford 5.2L Aluminator currently does not power a production Ford vehicle, but is rather sold individually in a crate for implementation in a variety of personalized projects. It's a direct evolution of the Ford 5.0L Coyote engine and shares several components with the Ford 5.2L Voodoo engine.
However, it does not feature the same flat-plane crankshaft design. Instead, the Ford 5.2L Aluminator, which generates more power and torque than the Voodoo, relies on a different Cobra Jet intake manifold and throttle body as well as CNC ported cylinder heads, all while utilizing a cross-plane crankshaft. The Ford 5.2L Aluminator power the following vehicles:
