In case you haven’t heard of the company ICON out of Los Angeles, California, it is a rather small maker of high-quality, bespoke cars, trucks, and SUVs. One model in particular – the ICON BR – is an updated take on the classic Ford Bronco, using a vintage body as a base.
The video above shows one such example, as it drives around LA in the hands of company owner Jonathon Ward. This particular Ford Bronco has been turned into ICON BR #24, which was finished and ready to ship at the time that this video was shot. In place of the original V8 is a modern, alloy 5.0-liter unit like that used in the current Mustang GT, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The axles are from Dynatrac, based on Dana 60/44 units, and vented/slotted power disc brakes lie at all for corners.
Inside the customized Ford Bronco, Mr. Ward’s extraordinary attention to detail and passion for quality really shine. The custom, powder-coated, stainless center console, for instance, required painstaking problem-solving, as it must house the double-DIN head unit with touchscreen interface in an accessible and legible position, without interfering with the operation of the shift lever.
The ICON BR – a modern, updated take on the classic Ford Bronco – features far too many minute, bespoke details to list here. For the full scoop, be sure to watch the video above.
