Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs over an issue with the pre-collision assist system.
The defect: in affected vehicles, pre-collision assist features, such as forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, are not functional due to a software error.
The hazards: inoperative pre-collision assist features that fail to perform as expected can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Components: body control module software
Affected vehicles: select 2020 Ford Expedition models built between October 14th, 2019, and March 19th, 2020, and 2020 Lincoln Navigator SUVs produced on February 13th, 2020.
Number of vehicles affected: 426
The fix: dealers will update the body control module software, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on June 9th, 2025. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S56.
