By now, it’s a well known fact that Ford is invested heavily in its skunkworks EV team, currently working on developing a new, low-cost all-electric vehicle platform that will underpin a variety of future models. In fact, Ford CEO Jim Farley went so far as to say that he’s “betting the company” on this team’s success, which is quite the revelation. Now, it seems as if The Blue Oval is seeking to add some talented engineers to its team, as the company’s chief EV, digital and design officer – Doug Field – recently put out a call of sorts for those types of folks.
Field’s LinkedIn profile now states that “I am looking for great engineers, designers and leaders to help change the course of the auto industry. Embedded HW and SW, Autonomy, Interior, Exterior and Interaction Design, EV Systems, and more. We need talent, passion, and curiosity, not just years of experience. Irreverence to convention, hierarchy and bureaucracy is encouraged. We’re looking for people with an infinite capacity to not know what can’t be done. Bunny slippers welcome.”
Notably, Field’s location is listed as Los Gatos, California, the same state where the Ford skunkworks team is currently operating. However, Ford also erected a new EV research center in Long Beach, as Ford Authority previously reported, which is where that team is slated to move once the process is complete, bringing 450 workers back to a town where The Blue Oval hasn’t operated in quite a few years.
Ford is currently working on developing a number of new platforms for a variety of future models, in addition to all-electric ones, as Ford Authority previously reported. That unified effort means the automaker “going to invest in and build on this architecture across a full portfolio of vehicles – not only electric vehicles and F-150s, but Mustangs, Broncos, Rangers, Transit Vans, and more,” as Field previously mentioned.
Ford Authority thanks the reader who informed us about Field’s LinkedIn page.

I wish I can join. I have been working with electric cars (battery powered toys) since 1962) and I own a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I may qualify but I might be too old!
Ford snagged Fields almost 4 years to the date from Apple. 4 years later he’s throwing out a lifeline begging talented engineers to join Ford to help make headway on the job HE WAS HIRED to do?
