The Ford Mustang GT3 is proving itself as a menace on track, even far away from its home turf. The pony car-based racer won the 2025 24h Nürburgring as part of The Blue Oval’s lineup for the 2025 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) season – and, clearly, the racer is right at home on the ‘Ring, because a pair of Mustang GT3 competitors nabbed the top two finishing spots in the recent ADAC GT Masters race at the iconic racetrack on July 13th, 2025.
The victory marked the first in the ADAC GT Masters division for the Ford Mustang GT3 and its seventh win globally. Salman Owega and Finn Wiebelhaus wheeled the No. 1 Mustang GT3, fielded by Haupt Racing Team (HRT), to the victory; the No. 3 Mustang GT3 of Max Reis and David Schumacher weren’t far behind as the runner-up team at the ‘Ring.
“I’m really happy with our first Ford win in ADAC GT Masters,” said Owega. “Finn and the team did a top job, and Ford gave us a great car. We’re leading the championship, and hopefully it’ll stay this way until the end.”
Alexander Fach and Alexander Schwarzer, driving the No. 4 Porsche 911 GT3 R, finished third; the No. 11 BMW M4 GT3 Evo of Leyton Fourie and Tim Zimmerman came home fourth; Nico Hantke and Denis Bulatov rounded out the top five in their No. 16 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II.
“We had a good weekend for what we had,” Schumacher said. “Finishing second and fourth was pretty decent in the Mustang GT3. We were a bit unlucky with today’s pit-stop. We miscalculated something and sadly got a penalty for it. We would have probably got the win, which is a shame.”
The third Ford Mustang GT3 in the field was driven by Dennis Fetzer and Jonathan Cecotto, finishing ninth.
