Ford Mustang Mach-E Still Running Strong At 250K Miles

In recent years, much ado has been made about electric vehicles and their batteries, with concerns being raised about how long, exactly, they’ll last before a replacement is needed. Those are valid concerns given how pricey those parts can be, but we’ve seen several cases of EVs racking up well over a hundred thousand miles or more with little degradation, which is a good sign – not to mention studies that validate those results. Though it hasn’t been on the market for that long, this Ford Mustang Mach-E has already traveled a quarter-million miles, too.

This 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium is owned by David Blenkle, who uses it to operate a small private car service in Santa Cruz, California. In just three years, he’s racked up a whopping 250,000 miles in the EV crossover, and his battery life is still quite good with a max range of around 290 miles. According to The Blue Oval, the batteries used in the Ford Mustang Mach-E are designed to last at least 10 years, with 90 percent battery health at 100,000 miles, so it seems as if Blenkle has already surpassed those expectations more than once over.

Much of that can be attributed to proper use and maintenance, of course, as Blenkle does most of his charging at home and follow’s Ford’s recommendation of stopping at the 90 percent mark, though he does occasionally utilize DC fast charging when needed. Other than that, he gets regular tire rotations, routine multipoint inspections, and new cabin filters at his local dealer, and since Blenkle relies on regenerative braking as much as possible, he hasn’t even had to replace the original brake pads yet.

“The biggest misconception I encounter is about battery life and range, and then I show them my odometer,” Blenkle said. “I have a Ford home charger, and I plug it in every evening, set to charge when my electricity rates are lower. It’s almost like the first time I put on noise-canceling headphones on a flight,” he said of his 12 hours of daily driving in the EV. “I feel so different at the end of the day.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. This Mach-E is well kept and will last another 250,000 miles! This is the best for EV buyers and worst for dealers who get no servicing income. My own 2014 Fusion Hybrid only visits the dealer for annual oil changes (it has a full cover under the engine bay and needs a lift for removal), and three recalls.
