Future Ford Vehicles Could Tell Users About Tire Pressure During Inflation

Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for a system designed to relay audible messages about tire pressure that may be used in future Ford vehicles, Ford Authority has learned.

The patent was filed on January 11th, 2024, published on July 17th, 2025, and assigned serial number 0232620.

The Ford Authority Take

Ford has published a handful of patents revolving around ways its future vehicles may provide users with a better experience as it pertains to tire inflation, specifically. Those filings include ideas for things like a spare tire inflation system and a tire pressure notification system, but this newly published patent keeps that theme going with something entirely new – a concept for a system designed to relay audible messages about tire pressure that may be used in future Ford vehicles, too.

The idea here is to provide an easier way for vehicle users to keep tabs on tire pressure readings while they’re inflating tires. The system would be configured so that it could detect tire pressure in real time, and so that once it reaches the desired level, an external speaker would notify the user. The purpose of such a system is to prevent overinflation, as well as save time that might otherwise be spent stopping and checking the tire pressure as one inflates a tire, which happens with certain types of inflators that don’t have displays built in.

“Submitting patent applications is a normal part of any strong business as the process protects new ideas and helps us build a robust portfolio of intellectual property,” Ford said in a statement. “The ideas described within a patent application should not be viewed as an indication of our business or product plans. No matter what the patent application outlines, we will always put the customer first in the decision-making behind the development and marketing of new products and services.”

  1. Nissan has had an excellent system for many years. As you inflate a tire, when it reaches the correct pressure, the horn beeps once. If you over inflate the tire, it beeps multiple times. You don’t need a voice monitor.

  2. Nissans have had this for years and lately GM vehicles too. Why is a patent needed?

  4. For that matter, who uses an air compressor that doesn’t allow you to set the desired pressure, that then runs to the set pressure and turns off?

    FIX THE GODDAM ENGINES!!!
NEED TO FIRE ALL TEAMS LIKE THIS!!!
How many MILLIONS of DOLLARS is Ford wasting on this CRAP?!?

Also you need to inform you team that customers no longer get a spare tire they get a can of fix a flat!!

  6. Chrysler had notification of tire pressure ( horn blown) at optimum pressure reached, in my 2007 Chrysler 300C, 2009 Challenger, and my 2011,2014 and 2019 Ram 1500.

  7. I miss that in my 2014,18,22 and 24 Mustang GT’s

  8. Awesome. So now people who can’t see well enough to read the pressure on the gauge can drive more confidently knowing their tires are inflated properly. At least when they get in a wreck it won’t be because of under inflated tires.
