The first-generation Ford F-150 SVT Lightning debuted to much fanfare as one of the very first street performance-focused pickups on the market. In today’s collector car market, these same SVT Lightning pickups remain a hot commodity, largely due to their historical significance, relatively low production figures, and of course, cool factor. Now, this 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is joining that group, but it isn’t exactly some low-mile, stock, unmodified collectible, either.
Rather, this 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning pickup currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer has been modified in a number of ways, switching up its appearance and adding some performance, to boot. On the outside, those modifications start with a rear bumper and pinstriping delete, while the Raven Black paint has been touched up in various places. The pickup rolls on a set of aftermarket 17-inch wheels wrapped with Toyo Proxes ST III tires, and it sits two inches lower than stock thanks to some upgraded suspension parts.
Inside the cabin, one will find a clean interior with Dark Charcoal cloth seats, a center console with cupholders, an aftermarket stereo, air conditioning, and cruise control.
Things get more serious under the hood, where the original 351 Windsor V8 has been stroked out to displace 412 cubic inches and fitted with a ProCharger D-1SC supercharger, a front-mounted intercooler, headers, an aftermarket cam, and an Aeromotive high-pressure fuel pump. It’s mated to a beefed-up four-speed automatic, too.
It certainly isn’t every day that we come across a heavily-modified first-generation Ford F-150 SVT Lightning like this one, as most were kept stock and not driven a ton – in fact, we just spotted one of these trucks with a mere 150 miles on the clock. However, it’s a pretty cool build that’s sure to provide more power – and thrills – than those originals have to offer.
