2025 Ford Expedition Split Gate Looks Great With Body Color Paint: Video

The redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition debuted with quite a few new and interesting features, with its completely revamped interior ranking near the top of that list. However, the 2025 Ford Expedition also offers customers its very first split gate, which was developed in secrecy and functions much like a regular tailgate on a pickup. The top three-quarters of the liftgate raises upward, while the lower portion folds down, and it can even support up to 500 pounds. Trouble is, some folks don’t like the fact that the upper portion of the split gate is finished in black, and even prompted one to rectify that issue.

In this short clip from the Ford dealership Kirk Auto Company in Grenada, Mississippi, we get a look at a 2025 Ford Expedition that has received the paint match treatment on its split gate, which gives it a much cleaner and more cohesive appearance. The dealer did this per customer request, and we certainly imagine that this won’t be the only color-matched liftgate that we see in the coming months, either – and it wouldn’t be surprising if Ford opted to make it a factory option, too.

The split gate on the 2025 Ford Expedition – which also came about thanks in some part to YouTuber Doug DeMuro – is one of a few features that exists solely due to customer feedback, however. The list also includes the suspension tuning of the redesigned SUV, which apparently was a bit too rough over smaller bumps in the road for more than one owner of previous models.

As Ford Authority previously reported, customers were already pleased with the previous-generation Expedition’s ride quality, but they also wanted the SUV to exhibit less impact harshness when driving over small bumps, potholes, and imperfections. To do that, Ford looked to the front suspension present in Ford F-150 pickups, and then retuned the springs and shocks, softened the body mounts, redesigned pieces of the rear frame and hitch, and updated the attachment location for the stabilizer bar.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  2. I totally agree the piano black upper tailgate looks terrible, especially with lighter exterior colors.

  3. Can we talk about the stupid dashboard ? Loved it in my 2015…..Bought a 24’……WTF ?
Dumb pictures of the truck….dumber tach ( 1.8?)…… Just put the speedo in the middle, a clock I can read, an outside temp gauge I can read. ( Live in N.E.) Let the owner decide on what idiot gauges he needs. ( As in older models) Hate it to the point that I may start looking at different Manufacturers……….New truck designed by 25 year old geeks who don’t drive…….
