Ford Escape Driver Signals Left, Goes Straight Anyway: Video

It’s a sad world we live and drive in when we can’t trust that a car’s blinker is actually indicative of the direction they intend to turn. Unfortunately, that occurrence is all too common, and the driver of a Ford Escape pulled that very move in a recent viral dashcam video.

The cammer – slang for the driver who captured the video – posted their dashcam footage to the Reddit community r/IdiotsInCars. It’s not clear what the Ford Escape driver is up to at first, as they slow down behind the cammer in the left lane with their left blinker ticking away. One would assume that they’re going to turn, you know, left, considering they’re sitting in the turn lane with an indicator on.

But they don’t. And thankfully, the cammer is well out of their way when they pull their boneheaded move, but just barely. The Ford Escape suddenly veers to the right, its blinker still indicating the opposite direction. They almost hit the cammer’s rear bumper, but my some miracle, there’s just enough space to prevent that outcome.

The Ford Escape doesn’t stop there, though. It goes straight across the intersection from the far left lane. The move clearly confuses the car behind it, which slows to let the Escape’s driver execute their questionable decision. Thankfully, there wasn’t any traffic turning the other direction, or else they might have ended up in the crossover’s path, too.

We would say that it was good the Escape driver at least used a blinker – which seems to be an increasingly rare courtesy these days – but in this case, it didn’t help at all. Just goes to show you. Never assume someone’s going to turn unless their wheels are already carrying them in that direction.

A different Ford Escape driver made a series of questionable choices in front of another driver, but thankfully got away unscathed. And in a similar vein, the driver of a Ford Focus apparently had no idea how painted lines are supposed to work.
