Ford EV Reveal, Dubbed ‘Model T Moment’, Will Be Livestreamed

As Ford Authority previously reported, Ford CEO Jim Farley recently revealed that the automaker will make a rather major EV-related announcement on August 11th, though he didn’t provide too many additional details about that unveiling. It’s possible that the announcement will pertain to the company’s low-cost EV platform that has been in development for a few years now, and is expected to underpin a variety of future models, but regardless, the exec refers to it as a “Model T moment” for the company – and it’s one that everyone can watch as it happens live.

Ford has announced that its forthcoming EV announcement next Monday in Kentucky will in fact be live-streamed via the company’s Ford From the Road site, meaning that anyone can tune in to watch it unfold. Farley will be present on that livestream, along with other Blue Oval executives and special guests, revealing “more about the company’s plans to design and assemble breakthrough electric vehicles in America,” according to the automaker.

Those that wish to receive updates regarding the timing of this livestream can do so by subscribing to Ford From the Road here, after which they can select what they’re interested in – in this case, Electric Vehicles – and opt to receive communications pertaining to updates and reminders ahead of the livestream. While we don’t yet know what exact details Ford will reveal during this livestream, we do know that the automaker’s Louisville Assembly plant in Kentucky is scheduled to undergo a major retooling late this year as it’s prepped for the production of an all-new electric vehicle.

That vehicle could be the first riding on the under-development low-cost EV platform – a mid-size pickup – which will use lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries being developed with licensed technology that will be built in the U.S., all with an effort to keep costs as low as possible. It’s possible those LFP units will come from the BlueOval Battery Park Michigan site in Marshall, which will begin building those exact types of EV batteries starting in 2026, with the EV pickup expected to launch in 2027.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
