The Ford Explorer is a mean-looking machine straight from the factory, but for those craving a bit more track-inspired flair, Ford offers bold hood graphics. We’re shedding a spotlight on the unique decal, laying out how to get it and what it’ll run you.
Officially called the Ford Performance Hood Graphic, this decal is available as an optional extra on the 2021 and newer Ford Explorer. The kit includes two hood stripes in black, one of which is emblazoned with the Ford Performance logo. The stripes are specifically designed to fit the center of the Explorer’s hood, adding a sporty visual to any model.
In terms of availability, the Ford Performance Hood Graphic can only be ordered directly from the factory for two trims, at least for the 2025 model. It’s offered as a dealer-installed option (DIO) on the 2025 Ford Explorer ST-Line and ST, which means it’s shipped separately from the vehicle itself and installed at its destination dealer. As such, it’s priced at $330 on top of the cost of the crossover.
However, buyers can also acquire the Ford Performance Hood Graphic as a standalone option from Ford’s own website. It’s priced at $305 when ordered directly from The Blue Oval, and can be picked up for free at a preferred Ford dealer. While customers can opt to install the decal themselves, they can also contact their Ford dealer to have it applied by a technician. However, buyers who go this route should note that the cost of the decal does not account for any installation fees.
After quite some time fighting with the the Ford Fully Networked Vehicle (FNV) electrical architecture, HP Tuners finally broke through with the Ford Explorer ST and now offer tuning support. Steeda Autosport does, too, offering a complete custom tuning solution for Explorer ST owners who want to make the most of their performance crossovers. Steeda has a soft spot for the Explorer, offering quite a few upgrades for the crossover – including a hood stripe of their own.
