As Ford Authority reported yesterday, a video recently posted to TikTok quickly went viral, and for good reason – it depicted a wild scene where a Ford Mustang Mach-E was seen traveling at high speed while scraping along a guardrail before it crashed violently into another vehicle. What was particularly odd about the video is that we can clearly see the driver is seemingly praying rather than trying to steer the out of control vehicle, and their hazard lights were on – not the brakes. Now, we’re learning that the driver was apparently under the influence at the time of the incident.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) of Redwood City, California, became aware of this video and wound up posting some more information about the incident on Facebook, helping to clear up a lot of misinformation and speculation that has been floating around. CHP notes that when they arrived on the scene, they determined that the Ford Mustang Mach-E wasn’t being driven with BlueCruise activated at the time of the crash, as some had speculated, and that the driver was arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence.
This certainly helps clear the air in that regard, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions here, mostly related to the driver’s behavior. It’s unclear what they were thinking as it pertains to taking their hands off the wheel, or not trying to stop the vehicle before it smashed into someone else. Luckily, neither person involved was seriously injured, but things could have obviously gone much, much worse.

Regardless, as CHP notes here, jumping to conclusions rarely pays off, and oftentimes, can be harmful, as a lot of people tend to believe pretty much everything they see and hear on the internet. If nothing else, this incident serves as a reminder that it’s generally better to wait until the facts come out.
