Ford Rival Hyundai Now Offering Used Cars On Amazon Autos

During the pandemic, new vehicle inventory dwindled to its lowest levels in some time, sending many consumers to the used market. That big boom in used vehicle interest prompted automakers and others to launch new, improved platforms for selling such models, a list that includes Ford’s BlueAdvantage. Earlier this year, retail giant Amazon announced that it also intended to get in on this action with the new Amazon Autos platform, which began with a pilot program featuring new vehicles from Ford rival Hyundai. Now, that pilot has officially graduated into a full-fledged new and used vehicle sales platform.

Amazon Autos has officially expanded with the addition of used and certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle sales, and dealers are now able to list their inventory of those models as well. For now at least, the program is only live in Los Angeles, California, but Amazon plans to expand it to other parts of the U.S. in the coming months. The existing pilot for new vehicles has already expanded to 130 cities, giving dealers another way to connect with car shoppers.

According to Amazon, Hyundai dealers are currently the only ones participating in the used/CPO program, but it’s expected to expand in the coming months as well. Along with transparent pricing, these vehicles are being sold with a three-day/300-mile return policy and a minimum 30 day/1,000-mile Limited Warranty.

“We look forward to bringing the convenience of Amazon Autos to used vehicle sales,” said Fan Jin, global leader of Amazon Autos. “This expansion is driven by strong interest from our dealer partners. By including certified pre-owned and used vehicles, we’re meeting dealer demand for broader online reach while offering customers a wider selection of high-quality vehicles to fit your budget and unique lifestyle needs. This move continues our commitment to support local dealerships, now connecting dealers with more prospective customers online across new, certified pre-owned, and used vehicle categories.”

“We’re excited to be an early participant in Amazon Autos’ expansion,” said Weslie Metcalf, managing partner of Premier Hyundai Moreno Valley in Moreno Valley, California. “We’re optimistic about the opportunity to showcase our used and certified pre-owned inventory through Amazon Autos. We believe this collaboration has the potential to help us reach more customers and enhance our online sales process. We look forward to growing with this new offering and exploring new ways to serve our customers.”
