The Ford Territory has been around for a while as a crossover manufactured in China – where it’s called the Equator Sport – and just received a refresh mere months ago. Those updates were mostly minor in nature, save for the addition of a plug-in hybrid powertrain option, but the automaker was still keen to show off the revamped Ford Territory in the markets where it’s sold. Turns out, one of those unveilings presented the automaker and attendees with a bit of a humorous surprise.
In this video recently posted on Reddit, we get a nice view of what transpired as the covers were pulled off the refreshed Ford Territory – though we aren’t sure where this unveiling took place. With a model wearing a Ford-branded dress standing next to the covered-up Territory, the black sheet covering it is pulled backward, revealing the new model – and, well, also a cat, which was apparently hiding underneath.
The feline appears to have been taking a nap under there, and is clearly startled when it’s suddenly in the spotlight. It just continues to stand in the same place, looking around, while no one really appears to be bothered by its presence – including the model, who just keeps on smiling. The person shooting the footage does notice, of course, and zooms in to give us a closer look at the cat.

In addition to its hybrid powertrain, the refreshed Ford Territory also received some styling updates in the form of a new front grille and bumper, along with redesigned headlights and taillights that tout full LED technology, new wheel options, roof bars, a shark-fin antenna, new micro-perforated leather seats, a 12-inch infotainment screen, and either a seven-inch or 12-inch digital instrument cluster in the SEL and Titanium, respectively.
