Upcoming Ford EV Pickup’s Front End Officially Teased

Just yesterday, Ford unveiled some rather ambitious EV plans centered largely around its new universal platform, which will underpin a variety of future models. The first of that bunch is slated to be a mid-size Ford EV pickup, which will ride on this universal platform, but as of now, we don’t know a whole lot about what that model will look like – nor what it will be called. However, we did catch a brief glimpse of the front end of the new Ford EV pickup during the automaker’s presentation yesterday, at least.

The singular image seen above was shown briefly during Ford’s universal EV platform presentation, giving us a very small glimpse at what this new affordable pickup will look like, at least, up front. Ford CEO Jim Farley noted during the presentation that the new model will be quite aerodynamic, and that’s evident by the smooth shapes here, along with the lack of openings, but not much more is visible – largely due to the fact that a worker is polishing that same front end in the photo.

As Ford Authority previously reported, the new mid-size Ford EV pickup will actually be closer in size to the Ford Maverick than the Ford Ranger, and it will only be offered in four-door guise with lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, and a targeted starting price of $30,000. It will be produced at the Louisville Assembly plant, as expected, with a launch date of 2027, as well as a potential max annual capacity of 190,000 units.

Ford stated that its new EV pickup will be “as fast as a Mustang EcoBoost” and will offer “more passenger space than the latest Toyota RAV4 – with a frunk and a bed,” giving owners the ability to lock their surfboards or other gear in the bed without the need for a roof rack or trailer hitch racks. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the forthcoming model – its actual reveal date, starting price, EPA-estimated battery range, battery sizes, and charging times – but that information will be provided at a later date. However, as Ford Authority reported last week, the new Ford EV pickup could use the Ranchero name, based on a recent trademark filing in the U.S.
