1978 Ford Bronco With Rare Color Combo Heading To Auction

These days, pretty much any Ford Bronco made before the current sixth-generation is going for big money, and that’s especially true of the second-generation SUV, which was only produced for two model years. That full-size SUV is incredibly popular and valuable these days, and modified examples aren’t exempt from that rise in interest from collectors and fans, either. Thus, we fully expect this very nice 1978 Ford Bronco to command big bucks, too, particularly since it’s finished in a rare exterior color combination.

This 1978 Ford Bronco is scheduled to cross the block at Mecum’s 2025 Indy Fall Special auction next month, and it’s sporting a color combo we certainly don’t see every day – two-tone Bright Emerald paired with Wimbledon White. According to the included Deluxe Marti Report, only 62 1978 Ford Bronco models left the factory in that particular combination, when coupled with the Black vinyl interior that features bucket seats that are part of the optional Custom package.

That exterior looks to be in good condition, and it’s paired with a white removable fiberglass top. The big SUV rolls on a set of eight-hole alloy wheels, and also sports running boards and bright low-mount Western mirrors on the outside. Inside, along with the aforementioned black buckets, one will find amenities including power steering and an AM radio with a digital clock.

Power for this 1978 Ford Bronco comes from the naturally-aspirated 351 cubic-inch V8, paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a rear end with 3.50 gears.

It’s certainly be interesting to see what this second-generation Bronco sells for, given how pricey these models have become as of late. We’ve certainly seen our fair share of these full-size models from the late ’70s surface for sale recently, including a 1978 model also finished in green and white (albeit not these same shades), plus a 1979 model, both of which were given the restomod treatment.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
