One of the cooler, more niche models that has existed across Blue Oval history is the Mercury Marauder, which existed for two model years – 2003 and 2004 – and was built in somewhat limited quantities. Today, the Marauder remains a popular target for anyone that appreciates a large, performance-focused sedan with room for the whole family, which isn’t surprising since such things don’t really exist anymore. Thus, this 2003 Mercury Marauder should attract its fair share of interest at auction.
This 2003 Mercury Marauder is currently up for grabs at Hagerty with 61k miles on the clock, and it’s a two-owner car that remains in solid shape today. There are a few typical scratches on the black paint, as one might expect, but otherwise, the exterior is essentially flawless. It rolls on a set of 18-inch five spoke chrome wheels wrapped in Nitto Motivo 235/50ZR18 tires, sporting its signature monochromatic treatment throughout.
Inside, this Marauder features gray leather upholstery with power-adjustable front seats, windows, locks, and mirrors, AutoMeter gauges, the factory AM/FM/CD stereo system, and air conditioning. There are some typical creases on the driver’s side seat bolster, but otherwise, the interior looks to be in great condition.
As is the case with all Marauders, this one is powered by the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
This is just one of many Mercury Marauder sedans we’ve seen hit the auction block as of late – a list that also includes a Black Clearcoat 2003 with 18k miles that was previously modified but later returned to stock, another black 2003 model with just 17k miles that surfaced for sale recently, as well as a 2004 model finished in the rare exterior color known as Dark Toreador Red.
