2016-2019 Ford Taurus Sedans Recalled Over Door Trim Detachments

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2016-2019 Ford Taurus models over a an issue with the door trim.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the driver and front passenger B-Pillar door trim may detach while driving.

The hazards: door trim that detaches while driving can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: B-pillar trim

Affected vehicles: select 2016-2019 Ford Taurus sedans produced between July 25th, 2016, and March 1st, 2019.

Number of vehicles affected: 101,944

The fix: dealers will inspect the B-pillar trim, and repair or replace it, as necessary, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on September 22nd, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, which is anticipated to happen in December 2025. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S91.

  1. Ford must be the only manufacture issuing recalls, or so the media would have you believe. Does Ford have quality issues? Of course. Are they the only ones? Hardly. It’s a bit of a targeted hit job lately. Reminds me of the Boeing quality debacle where the unbolted cargo door fell off the 737 and then weekly we would see stories about another ‘Boeing’ emergency landing that turned out to be nothing burgers.

    If your vehicle has an affected recall, Ford notifies YOU, they don’t rely on you reading about it on CNBC…..

    1. Ford’s volume of recalls has something to do with being scrutinized by some watchdog. I forget the details but that’s the reason.
