There was a time when many believed that Lincoln would transition to an all-electric lineup, but as Ford Authority recently reported, Ford CEO Jim Farley himself prevented that from happening. Turns out, that was seemingly a good move as demand for EVs tapered off quite a bit not too long after the automaker was mulling this decision, but regardless, many of Lincoln’s peers continue to roll out new EVs. Now, that includes the just-unveiled 2027 Mercedes GLC EV, which is set to rival the ICE-powered Lincoln Nautilus when it arrives.
The 2027 Mercedes GLC EV is a totally new product, and is completely unique compared to the ICE-powered version of the crossover by the same name. It does bear some resemblance to the regular GLC, however, and it’s five inches longer. The EV can also be had with an optional front grille utilizing a matrix design with 942 backlit dots. In terms of trims, there are two choices – the dual-motor all-wheel drive GLC400 4Matic churning out 483 horsepower and 596 pound-feet of torque, and the rear-wheel drive GLC300+ and its 369 horsepower and 372 pound-feet.
Inside the cabin, the 2027 Mercedes GLC EV can be spec’d with an optional 39.1 inch Hyperscreen, which spans the entire width of the interior, and it’s capable of running Microsoft Teams – even with the vehicle in motion. Otherwise, the crossover gets a standard 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 14-inch center infotainment screen, and a 14-inch passenger screen.
Both flavors of the new GLC EV get a 94 kWh battery pack and utilize 800-volt architecture, but range figures aren’t available just yet. Regardless, when DC fast charging, one can expect to go from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes, and 10 minutes of charging can add around 160 miles of range.
In terms of timing, the GLC400 4Matic is slated to launch in late 2026, while the GLC300+ will follow in early 2027. For now at least, Mercedes hasn’t released pricing info for either.
