Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving assist feature started rolling out in select models a few years ago, and has been updated on several occasions since then. BlueCruise also continues to expand in terms of which Ford models it’s available in, and that figures to continue to grow moving forward as well. Now, those that own a 2022-2024 model year Ford F-150 or F-150 Lightning can snag BlueCruise 1.4, giving them some notable updates and new features, too.
BlueCruise 1.4 is already shipping in the 2025 Ford F-150 and F-150 Lightning, but now, it’s also available for the 2022-2023 F-150 and F-150 Lightning, plus 2024 F-150 Lightning BlueCruise-equipped vehicles. The software update will take eligible owners from BlueCruise 1.0 or 1.2 up to 1.4, giving them more of a natural driving experience and more time in hands-free mode, with fewer interruptions requiring the driver to put their hands on the steering wheel.
According to Ford’s own internal testing, these updates keep BlueCruise engaged in hands-free mode up to eight times longer, on average, compared to the original version, and five times longer than the 1.2 update. BlueCruise 1.4 reduces deviations from the center of the lane by nearly 80 percent from version 1.0, features In-Lane Repositioning to provide more space when the vehicle is next to a semi truck, and offers up hands-free lane changes via Lane Change Assist.
BlueCruise 1.4 will roll out first to 2022-2024 F-150 Lightning and 2022-2023 F-150 trucks, with additional models coming after that. For now at least, BlueCruise 1.5 is only available in one model – the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E. This is due to the fact that it requires upgraded advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and additional computing power, which is why it won’t be available on older models that are already BlueCruise capable. The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E boasts that capability thanks to new ADAS sensors and cameras, along with a faster processing unit, upgrades that will expand to other models in the existing lineup in the near future.

I already have it on my 21 Platinum thanks to FDRS and some really smart people.
I am more curious to see what additional models bluecruise will roll out in the 2026-2027 timeframe. I would love to see it in the Maverick or Bronco Sport.
When will 2021 F150 Platinums get the Blue Cruise update to 1.4 from 1.0
I renew every year, but without the new update I’m not feeling all that confident about hands free driving. That was the reason I purchased that truck and would like the new additions
Maybe if the price was reasonable I would use it. $50 a month is more then most ppl can or will pay to use something that comes on the vehicle. Are you going to charge me to use the wipers next. You greaty mfers
