These days, it’s best to pay close attention to one’s surroundings when driving around town, given the high percentage of folks that tend to get distracted from that same endeavor. Things like smart phones and big screens full of apps have drivers taking their eyes off the road more than ever before, and that’s leading to a whole lot of preventable accidents, unfortunately. That was once again the case when the driver of this Ford Fusion attempted to merge into traffic in a rather reckless manner, and they wound up nearly taking out some other cars in the process.
In this video recently posted at Reddit, we get a first-person view of the incident from a vehicle traveling in the left lane. First, we see the vehicle in the center lane start to brake, and then it becomes clear why they’re doing that – the Ford Fusion comes rocketing into view, sliding out of control across all lanes of traffic before smashing into the guardrail right in front of the camera car.
Luckily, the person driving was able to react and steer clear of the out of control Ford Fusion, avoiding a collision as it hits the concrete barrier so hard that its passenger side tires leave the ground. It’s a truly amazing save, but we have to imagine that the driver might be thanking their lucky stars after managing to avoid what could have been a serious accident beyond their control.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing seems to be happening more and more these days, and with so many dash cams out there, we’re being treated to plenty of shocking footage of such accidents. It was just a couple of weeks ago, in fact, that we saw a Ford Mustang Mach-E driver essentially let go of the wheel as that crossover rode alongside a guardrail before smashing into another car in a horrifying wreck.
