Street takeovers usually ruffle some feathers, but we can make an exception for this one. Two Ford Mustang GT3 race cars shut down Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, Michigan, putting on a smoke show in celebration of the pony car’s recent GTD Pro class win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The stunt was captured on video and shared via a local news outlet TCD News on social media. The video shows the two Ford Mustang GT3 race cars fielded by Multimatic Motorsports – the No. 65 Mustang and its sister No. 64 – doing burnouts and burning rubber on the street.
The No. 64 Mustang, driven by Mike Rockenfeller and Seb Priaulx, won at Indy after starting near the rear of the 11-car GTD Pro field. Tag-teaming the six-hour Battle on the Bricks on September 21st, 2025, Priaulx and Rockenfeller held off the competition in the closing laps, delivering a decisive class victory at the storied racetrack.
The No. 64 Mustang was joined by the No. 65 Mustang – driven by Christopher Mies and Frederic Vervisch on track – which finished 10th in-class at Indy. Despite not winning, the team was more than happy to help its fellow Multimatic Motorsports competitor celebrate on the streets of Dearborn.
It’s not clear who was driving the race cars as they showed off on the highway, but whether or not they were the actual competitors from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar championship, they clearly knew what they were doing and exhibited expert control of the Ford Mustang GT3 race cars.

The display wasn’t a true “street takeover” – police cars can be seen behind the celebrating Mustang racers, indicating that they had permission to pull such a stunt.
The No. 64 Mustang driven by Rockenfeller and Priaulx is currently third in GTD Pro points, tailing a Corvette and a Ferrari for the division championship. Their victory in June in Detroit helped catapult them into contention, and Multimatic is already looking ahead to the 2026 season, recommitting with two Ford Mustang GT3 entries next year.
