Over a period of a couple of years, The Blue Oval was facing a large influx of thefts occurring directly on its own company-owned property in Michigan. In late 2021, that included a variety of Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 models at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly plant, and the following June, five more Mustangs were stolen from the same location. Then, in September, thieves made off with at least a dozen more pony cars from Flat Rock. Now, however, some of those thieves have been officially charged for their crimes.
According to the Detroit Free Press and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, three Detroit-area men have been charged with stealing or attempting to steal roughly $1.5 million dollars worth of vehicles, including Mustangs, which were parked in an overflow lot at the Flat Rock Assembly plant. The Macomb Auto Theft Squad discovered that the thieves made at least five attempts to steal a variety of vehicles from around the Detroit and Lansing areas, in total.
The thieves targeted mainly range-topping trims and accessed them by cutting holes in chain link fences before using security defeat devices to make off with the vehicles. In some cases, they were unable to get those vehicles out of holding lots, however, though other attempts were indeed successful. Now, those thieves are being charged with conducting a criminal enterprise in the case in 37th District Court in Warren, Michigan, though they’ve pleaded not guilty. Each remains in the Macomb County Jail on bonds of up to $750,000, but even if they post them, the alleged thieves must wear a steel cuff GPS tether.
Regardless, this is just the latest in a string of automotive theft cases in the same state. The Michigan Attorney General’s Office recently announced that it has sentenced a dozen thieves to prison in the last year alone, who were also conducting a large-scale criminal organization that stole hundreds of vehicles across six counties in the region and state.

What kind of security measures did they have? This is NOT a good look for Ford.
Who is not in charge of security if it's happened before isn't there a lesson that apparently ABSOLUTELY NO ONE is learning, wouldn't it be time to step things up!
