Jimmy Fallon – host of The Tonight Show – has long been a Ford fan and owner, but these days, it’s also quite common to see the comedian tout a variety of Blue Oval vehicles and services in paid segments, too. We’ve seen quite a few of these over the years, some of which are entertaining or humorous, while others, well, are basically just what one might expect from a paid advertisement. Now, Ford is partnering with The Tonight Show yet again, this time, for a special taping.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Ford is once again teaming up with Fallon and his late night comedy show – for the fifth straight year – but this time, The Tonight Show will pay its first-ever visit to the city of Detroit, Michigan for a special taping set to occur on September 14th. The taping will take place at the Detroit Opera House, after which the episode will air the next day on NBC, followed by Peacock a day later.
The last time a late night talk show came to Detroit was way back in 2006, when Jimmy Kimmel Live filmed a week of episodes at the Gem Theatre ahead of that year’s Super Bowl in the same city. As for this forthcoming taping, it will be centered around guests that have roots in Detroit, as well as Ford Philanthropy, which has supported the Detroit Opera House for roughly two decades now.
Ford and Fallon have teamed up on multiple occasions in the past, including back in December 2023, when The Tonight Show aired a skit showing how the 2024 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid with Pro Power Onboard could potentially save Christmas when the power goes out. This past March, the show also ran another skit centered around Ford Mobile Service, humorously demonstrating how convenient it can be, too.
