These days, social media plays a big role in a lot of people’s lives, as well as companies. In fact, one of the most effective ways to advertise and market products to consumers is via social media, and in that regard, Ford has performed fairly well in terms of reaching potential clients in that manner. It does have some work to do – a recent study found that Millennials and Gen X prefer Chevy over the Ford brand – but The Blue Oval also ranked near the top in terms of which auto brands Redditors are talking about in new study.
This new study comes to us from Medina Auto Mall, and is based on an analysis of thousands of Reddit comments across state-specific subreddits. The goal was to find which automotive brands are being discussed the most at that site, and it ultimately found that Tesla came out on top – ranking first in 14 states, with most of them representing the larger EV markets in the U.S. Tesla was also the most-talked about brand overall, with 8,661 comments across all 50 states.
However, Ford ranked right behind it in second place after taking the top spot in 13 states, including Michigan, Kentucky, and Georgia, as well as parts of the Midwest and South, where its pickups and SUVs remain staples of rural life and road trips. Reddit users discussed a variety of topics pertaining to Ford, including power, reliability, and nostalgia, specifically. In total, 7,241 comments were centered around Ford, according to the study, while its cross-town rival – Chevrolet – came in third place by topping 11 states and accumulating 5,888 mentions in total.
“Sales numbers tell you what people drive, but Reddit tells you what people actually care about,” said Alex, a spokesperson for Medina Auto Mall. “When someone heads online to talk about their truck, SUV, or EV, they’re usually sharing a personal experience, whether it’s excitement over a new feature, frustration with a repair, or just pride in a vehicle they love. Reddit gives us a raw, unfiltered look into car culture.”
“You’ll find people trading advice on how to squeeze the best mileage out of a Ford F-150, debating Tesla’s Autopilot quirks, or sharing photos of Jeeps conquering muddy trails. Those posts build communities and influence what people think about a brand before they ever set foot in a dealership. If you see dozens of people in your state praising a model for handling snow or hauling heavy loads, that can be more persuasive than an ad. It shows how powerful online communities have become in shaping buyer decisions.”

Baloney. They’re talking about recalls.
While I can understand the sentiment, feel free to defend your reply with facts.
As an owner of a 24 Bronco Sport Badlands (Loaded)
Ford is learning a big lesson in dealing with the cheapest parts suppliers.
As in recalls
As a GM supporter all my life (I am 67) GM has driven my away from there products with the way they hide issues and with poor customer support.
It seems things really have to get bad before they stand behind there vehicles. That is not how you gain support for your company.
Over the years it’s been obvious that Fords engineering was sub par compared to the competition, with there cheap interiors and lack lustre designs. But lately there has been a real big change at Ford with there designs and much higher attention to interiors. Technology has really improved with Ford. My Bronco Sport has really surprised me when it comes to the tech. It’s not the best working but it does work.
When you consider the recalls it’s obvious Ford is still using the cheapest parts suppliers. And that is costing them dearly. Let’s call that a learning experience for low IQ people in high paying positions.
I will live with the recalls. What I don’t want is issues being swept under the rug for the customer to deal with after warranty runs out. Yes you GM……
They are talking about all the recalls and issues with Fords. My first car was a Ford, I’ve owned several Fords through the years, not anymore. I don’t need the stress and aggravation in my life.
