Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for a vehicle security system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, Ford Authority has learned.
The patent was filed on March 20th, 2024, published on September 25th, 2025, and assigned serial number 0295105.
The Ford Authority Take
Ford has published several patents outlining different types of monitoring and security systems in recent months, including ones for ideas such as a vehicle monitoring system for parked cars, in-cabin motion identification technology, and a large animal detection system, to name just a few. This newly published patent follows that same trend with a new idea for a vehicle security system that may be used in future Ford vehicles as well, but it serves a slightly different purpose.
In this case, Ford proposes a security system that could determine if a vehicle’s interior has been breached – and we aren’t just talking about by a thief or vandal. Rather, the system would also be able to detect animals that have been near or inside of the vehicle as well. This could include a variety of methods, whether that be via an open door or window, or even broken glass, and then even activate sounds to scare them off. It’s an interesting concept, but given how many times we’ve seen bears enter vehicles and trash them, perhaps one that at least a few folks might find useful – if it comes to fruition.
“Submitting patent applications is a normal part of any strong business as the process protects new ideas and helps us build a robust portfolio of intellectual property,” Ford said in a statement. “The ideas described within a patent application should not be viewed as an indication of our business or product plans. No matter what the patent application outlines, we will always put the customer first in the decision-making behind the development and marketing of new products and services.”
