The redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator officially debuted last October and have been on sale for a while now, with both experiencing tremendous demand from consumers. Both of the full-size SUVs were treated to some notable updates ranging from exterior styling revisions to a completely new interior and the all-new Ford/Lincoln Digital Experience software, but as is always the case in the automotive world, we’re constantly looking ahead to the next update. Now, a new report indicates when we can expect that to happen.
According to Automotive News, the Lincoln Navigator is in line to receive its next refresh in 2028, which is precisely when the Expedition is also expected to get a refresh, unsurprisingly. It’s unclear what those updates might bring, but it’s safe to say that we can expect the typical exterior styling revisions, interior and tech tweaks, and perhaps a few new colors, packages, and options.
It’s also possible that both the Lincoln Navigator and Expedition could be getting a hybrid powertrain option as part of that forthcoming refresh, too. Both SUVs have been rumored to be getting a hybrid for quite a few years to this point, so that wouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s also something that we’ve been promised before – including as part of the 2025 model year redesign – and the automaker intends to offer a hybrid powertrain option across its entire ICE lineup by 2030 or sooner, too.
In the meantime, the redesigned Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition remain in high demand, turning on dealer lots in record time and also posting big sales increases with each passing month. In fact, in Q2 2025, Lincoln Navigator deliveries totaled 7,355 units, an increase of about 115 percent compared to 3,423 units sold in Q2 2024 – the largest such increase in its segment, helping that model inch a bit closer to the top-selling Cadillac Escalade.
